Accredited Employer Work Visas

Many job roles in New Zealand are waiting for skilled candidates like you. The Accredited Employer Work Visa can help you start your new life in New Zealand. To qualify, New Zealand businesses must first try to hire locally. If they can't find the right person, they can become Accredited Employers and hire from overseas. This visa ensures businesses get the talent they need and gives you the chance to work and live in New Zealand

Skilled Migrant Visas

The Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) is designed to attract skilled individuals seeking permanent residency in NZ, offering freedom to live and work without time restrictions.

This points-based visa assesses factors such as income, qualifications, New Zealand registration, and local work experience. To apply for residence under the SMC, you need to score at least six points.

Obtaining a Resident Visa through the SMC is a significant step towards making New Zealand your long-term home. It offers benefits like access to healthcare, education, and a pathway to NZ citizenship. To begin your application, the first step is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Immigration New Zealand.

We provide comprehensive support from EOI submission to visa decision, ensuring a smooth transition to life in NZ.

Thinking about becoming a permanent resident of New Zealand?

Straight to Residence or Green List Work to Residence Category Visa

If your occupation is listed on INZ’s Green List, you may qualify for residence under either the Straight to Residence Category or the Green List Work to Residence Category. These visa categories are for individuals working in occupations that are critically needed in New Zealand, as identified on INZ’s Green List.

Eligibility for Straight to Residence or Green List Work to Residence Category Visa

You can apply for a Straight to Residence resident visa if you are offered a position in a Tier 1 occupation on Immigration New Zealand’s Green List and meet the qualifications, work experience, and salary requirements for that occupation. Tier 1 Green List occupations are primarily in construction, health, engineering, and ICT industries.

If you work in a Tier 2 Green List occupation, you can qualify for a Green List Work to Residence resident visa after working in that role for two years.

Both categories require proof of English proficiency and meeting health and character requirements for residence. Additionally, you must be employed by an INZ-accredited employer at the time of your residence application.

Eligibility for Care Workforce: Work to Residence

The Care Workforce: Work to Residence sub-category facilitates the granting of resident visas to individuals who have worked in New Zealand for at least 24 months in a Care Workforce sector occupation listed in Appendix 14. To qualify, applicants must hold a work visa or a critical purpose visitor visa with work conditions at the time of applying for residence. They must also be paid at or above $28.25 per hour (or equivalent salary), have completed the required 24 months in a qualifying occupation, and be aged 55 or younger at the time of application.

Partnership Visa Category

Are you considering joining your partner in New Zealand?

Partnership Visa categories offer various options:

  • You can apply for a work visa or visitor visa if you are the partner of a New Zealand citizen/resident, if your shared living arrangement hasn’t reached 12 months. Marriage is not mandatory, and there's no minimum duration required for cohabitation. Once you've lived together with your New Zealand partner in a relationship for 12 months or more, you can apply for residence under the Partnership Category. This pathway to residence is a significant milestone towards making New Zealand your permanent home, recognizing the commitment and bond you share with your partner and providing a route to long-term settlement.

  • You can apply for a work visa or visitor visa if you are the partner of a work visa or student visa holder in New Zealand. If your partner holds a work visa or a student visa, you can apply for a partnership visa. This option allows you to join your partner while they work in New Zealand, opening up opportunities for both of you to enjoy life in NZ.

Parents Category

The Parent Category Resident Visa allows parents of New Zealand residents to immigrate if their adult child or children in New Zealand earn at least 1.5 times the median income.

The parents need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). And their New Zealand sponsor must demonstrate that:

  • Earn 1.5 times the median income if sponsoring one parent, or

  • Earn twice the median income if sponsoring both, or

  • Joint Sponsorship Option: The partners or New Zealand sibling can jointly sponsor their parents, but higher income requirements apply.

Selection Process: EOIs are entered into an annual random selection process (ballot), with 500 selections made each year. If chosen, the parents can then apply for residence.

If you live in New Zealand and earn a high income, your parents may qualify for residence under the Parent Category.
